Fleurs Friendly Fields - About Our Workshops
As per Age UK: There are 1.4m chronically lonely older people in England, and many more across the rest of the UK, making this a major issue that is now widely recognised in society today.
3.6 million older people in the UK live alone, of whom over 2 million are aged 75+.
1.9 million older people often feel ignored or invisible.
15 cigarettes = Loneliness can be as harmful for our health as smoking 15 cigarettes a day.
It is no surprise that dogs bring mounds of joy to families and make amazing companions! Sometimes there are dog lovers who are unable to have their own but love to interact and play with them whenever possible. Fleur already has a number of elderly people who sadly don't have any family and have become 'pen pals' with us, checking in on our puppies and we share images and stories. That one image and letter has made their week! We want to continue to create friendships and joy and are working with charities to be able to provide workshops for the isolated elderly, disadvantaged and children with disabilities (all workshops will only use pre-approved dogs); this will include:
Dog-pampering and petting sessions were attendees get to spend some time playing and petting dogs and puppies
Picnics on our fields to enjoy the surroundings and watch dogs play as well as socializing and building friendships with other attendees
Puppy play sessions were the attendees can play with Fleurs very own bred puppies
Attending and even being a judge on our fun informal shows to bring some fun and joy into their life, attendees can make friends take pictures
For the children's workshops, we will hold small training classes where they can earn certificates and learn how to teach their dogs tricks or if they don't have a dog can practice on one of Fleurs and become mini trainers!
It doesn't end here, we will sponsor local service dogs and welcome any charitable projects or ideas the local community feel we could assist with; all charitable works will be funded by our profits and completely free to users.
The face behind to projects
The face behind the projects: my name is Lee, I am a chairman for a charity that I developed in Nottingham. I have donated two successful coffee bars to the charity so the profits can go straight into the community.
I have begun to follow my dream to work with animals, but still continue to give back to our communities, hence this project to support our isolated and lonely elderly residents. I have been awarded Halifax Giving Extra Award for my support to local residents, won Community Hero of the year and been featured on the BBC for my charity work.
Whilst I want to follow my own dream (working with dogs) it is my passion to give as much as I can back to our community and I will always do whatever it takes or seize every opportunity and utilize it.
The workshops will include (Pre-approved dogs only):
Providing comfort dogs in the workshop with a cup of tea and a chat, and providing game facilities such as cards and dominos;
Puppy petting/grooming workshops where they can even teach Fleurs very own puppies some tricks; visits to their home or care homes with our comfort dogs; Picnics to socialize with other attendees and build friendships; I will also be holding informal dog shows and events which these attendees can come and have snacks and judge the shows and just enjoy a day out with their new found friends! I also welcome suggestions from all local residents for extra workshop ideas so this list is not exhaustive.
All workshops, activities, picnics, and events will be completely funded by us but we do accept optional donations towards the costs or to enable us to fund the projects on a more frequent basis if you would like to donate even 10p towards flyers or games it will help make a difference.
All donations are made through PayPal's donation service and fully protected, you will be redirected to their secure page.
